Farland Stanley is a Professor of Classics and Archaeology at the University of Oklahoma's Department of Classics and Letters. He joined OU in 1985 after teaching at Texas A&M and holds a PhD in Ancient History from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His roles include Director of the OU Center for Classical Archaeology and Civilizations (established 2001) and President of the Oklahoma chapter of the Archaeology Institute of America (since 1997).

Research focuses on Mediterranean archaeology, with active field projects in Israel, Italy, and the Restoring Ancient Stabiae Project at Pompeii since 1990. He has developed over 20 courses, including Latin/Greek language instruction and Roman cultural studies.
Awards include the 2007 Gusi World Peace Prize in Archaeology. He organizes summer archaeological field seminars in Rome and collaborates with international archaeological initiatives.
