معرفی
John H Marsh is a Professor of Optoelectronic Systems and Director of the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre at the University of Glasgow's School of Engineering. He holds an honorary senior research fellowship and has led major institutional roles including Head of the School of Engineering (2010-2016) and Dean for Transnational Education (2016-2019). His formal education includes a BA from the University of Cambridge, MEng from the University of Liverpool, and a PhD from the University of Sheffield focusing on semiconductor epitaxy and electron transport properties.
Marsh's research spans optoelectronic systems, integrated photonics, and semiconductor laser technology. Key contributions include developing quantum well intermixing techniques for photonic integrated circuits, co-founding spin-off company Intense Ltd, and advancing mode-locked lasers for terahertz generation. He has authored over 500 papers and holds 16 patents.
His current work focuses on monolithic laser arrays, photonic filters, and nanofabrication for quantum technology. Professional service includes leadership roles in the IEEE Photonics Society, Optica, Royal Society of Edinburgh, and Royal Academy of Engineering.
Marsh's labs include the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre, a UK leader in quantum technology cleanrooms. His research emphasizes interdisciplinary integration of photonics, electronics, and nanotechnology.
