John Gibson is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Louisville, specializing in aesthetics, philosophy of literature, philosophy of language, and philosophy of the self. He co-directs the TRT-funded project 'Aesthetic Cognitivism and the Prospects of Criticism' and serves on the steering committee of the PhD in Humanities program. His educational background includes a PhD from the University of Toronto (2001) and a BA from Indiana University-Bloomington (1993).
Gibson's research explores the unique forms of meaning in artworks and their implications for cultural, ethical, and cognitive dimensions of art.
