John F. Kveton, MD is an internationally recognized Professor of Surgery (Otolaryngology) and Professor of Neurosurgery at Yale University School of Medicine. He currently serves as the Director of Otology and Neurotology in the Division of Otolaryngology and maintains an active clinical practice at Yale Otolaryngology - New Haven. Dr. Kveton has been affiliated with Yale since 1989, initially as a full-time faculty member until 2002, and subsequently as an active clinical faculty member.

Dr. Kveton is an internationally recognized neurotologist specializing in disorders of the ear and the surrounding skull base. His research has focused extensively on skull-base surgery techniques, particularly the pioneering use of hydroxyapatite cement for repairing skull defects. He has made significant contributions to the management of acoustic neuromas, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, and hearing restoration through cochlear implants. Dr. Kveton performed the first cochlear implant in St. Louis in 1984 and founded the cochlear implant program at Lahey Clinic in Boston before establishing one at Yale.
His publication record shows a consistent focus on innovative surgical techniques for ear and skull base disorders, with particular emphasis on hydroxyapatite cement applications. The research spans clinical problem-solving in otologic surgery, management of facial nerve disorders, and the physiological aspects of ear, nose, and throat function.
