Dr. John David is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri, within the College of Arts and Science. He holds a PhD from Vanderbilt University (1969). His research focuses on the biochemical regulation of myoblast fusion in skeletal muscle development. He utilizes monoclonal antibodies and molecular genetic techniques to study cell-cell recognition, alignment, and fusion processes, with particular attention to signaling pathways involving PGE1, cAMP, calcium, and protein kinase C.
Research Interests:
- Cellular mechanisms of muscle development
- Role of surface receptors in myogenesis
- Signal transduction pathways in cell fusion
Awards:
- President's University Citizenship Award for Service (2012)
- MU Honors College Excellence Award (2012)
- Mizzou Inclusive Excellence Award (2008)
- Environmental Health & Safety Leadership Award (2005)
Dr. David's work combines immunological and biochemical approaches to unravel fundamental biological processes, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration within his department.
