John Corkery serves as Research Lead at the University of Hertfordshire within the Department of Clinical, Pharmaceutical and Biological Science, School of Life and Medical Sciences. He directs the Psychopharmacology, Drug Misuse and Novel Psychoactive Substances Unit and maintains active roles in national drug policy advisory bodies.

As Programme Manager for the National Programme on Substance Abuse Deaths (NPSAD) and Volatile Substance Abuse mortality project, he oversees critical national mortality registries. Current research leadership includes the NPS.Finder® project and Masters in Public Health programme development, with sustained collaboration with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, and Scottish Government NPS Expert Group.
He coordinates the Centre for Health Services and Clinical Research unit while contributing to the London Toxicology Group and UK Drugs Early Warning System, maintaining active surveillance on emerging substance threats and fatality patterns.
