John Burgess is the John N. Woodhull Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in Logic and joined Princeton's faculty in 1975.
His research focuses on mathematical and philosophical logic, philosophy of mathematics, and modal logic. He has authored influential works including 'Mathematics, Models & Modality', 'Fixing Frege', and 'Philosophical Logic'.
Burgess teaches courses in philosophy of mathematics (PHI 314) and conventionalism/modality (PHI 513), continuing the legacy of Princeton's strong tradition in logic and foundations of mathematics.
