John Brauer is a Lecturer at the Department of Behavioral, Social and Legal Sciences at Örebro University. He holds a PhD in Social Work (2022) focusing on multi-level governance of labor market policies and municipal roles in employment support for vulnerable groups. His research spans two core areas: labor market policies/poverty and area-based preventive social work. He leads multiple projects including FORTE-funded work ability assessments (collaborating with Gothenburg and Lund universities), Åke Wiberg Foundation-supported studies on prison labor reintegration, and Allmänna Barnhuset-funded library collaboration initiatives. He teaches in the social work program, emphasizing poverty alleviation and organizational management. Brauer coordinates the Vasa research group and leads PrOSA, while participating in national/international collaborations like UTOPIZE (Horizon-funded citizen inclusion project). He actively engages in social innovation networks and governmental advisory roles.
