John Brackett is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Cincinnati, where he has taught since 1987. His research focuses on the social history of the Italian Renaissance (particularly Florence), the history of crime and criminal justice, and the presence of black Africans in Renaissance and early modern Europe.
