Paula Shear

Paula K. Shear is Professor and Head of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati. She earned her PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology from San Diego State University and completed postdoctoral training at Stanford.

Her research examines neuropsychological aspects of bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and substance abuse, with emphasis on affective processing and executive function. Funded projects include NIH grants on adolescent mania treatment effects and serotonin transporter impacts.

Shear teaches psychological assessment, psychopathology, and neuropsychology. She directs clinical training and serves as President of APA's Clinical Neuropsychology Division. Her work integrates neuroimaging with cognitive testing to map brain-behavior relationships.
