John Borchert serves as the Social Innovation and Public Scholarship Lead at Innovate UNCG and is the Associate Director of the Network for the Cultural Study of Videogaming (NCSV). He holds the academic rank of Lecturer in the Religious Studies Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is also affiliated with the Religion and Media Workshop of the American Academy of Religion and serves on the board of gamevironments, a journal focused on religion and video gaming.
