John Bliss is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and affiliate faculty at Harvard Law School's Center on the Legal Profession. His empirical research examines lawyers' roles in social change, legal education, and AI's transformative impact on the profession.
Research tracks lawyer careers from education through practice, with studies on public-interest professionalization, legal mobilization in social movements (including fair housing and AI governance), and educational reform. Current projects investigate AI integration in legal education and its implications for professional ethics.
Bliss teaches Professional Responsibility, Property Law, and seminars on legal AI. He co-directs Denver Law's 1L Public Good Program, serves on the Colorado Senate AI Impact Task Force, and contributes to AI policy through the Institute for Law & AI.
