John B. Minora

John B. Minora is an Instructor of Chemistry at Keystone College, affiliated with the Turock School of Arts and Sciences and the department of Biological and Physical Sciences and Mathematics. He teaches organic chemistry, biochemistry, and general chemistry labs, transitioning from an adjunct role at Keystone since Fall 2022 to a full-time faculty position. He also adjuncts at Marywood University. Minora holds a BS in Psychology from Temple University (2011) and an MS in Biotechnology from Marywood University (2020). His research focuses on genetic studies of diabetes and obesity, particularly analyzing the klf gene family and siRNA roles in generational gene mutations, though this was interrupted by the pandemic. He is pursuing a PhD in molecular biology and biochemistry.

Research Interests: Minora’s work bridges molecular genetics, biochemistry, and clinical applications in metabolic disorders. His prior research at Marywood under Dr. Christopher Brey explored genetic mechanisms underlying diabetes and obesity, with a focus on gene promoter analysis and siRNA implications. Though paused due to the pandemic, this project remains ongoing.

Teaching & Service: In addition to teaching, Minora co-coaches the Keystone College fencing club team and Scranton Preparatory School’s team. He is an active fencer and martial artist. He emphasizes Keystone’s community-driven environment and its academic growth.
