John Atkin is Reader in Fine Art and Director of Internationalisation at Loughborough University's School of Design and Creative Arts. He holds affiliations as Honorary Fellow of Beijing's National Academy of Sculpture and Fellow of the Royal Society of Sculptors in London.
His research explores human identity through abstract form, focusing on public art within urban regeneration contexts and cultural heritage integration in contemporary landscapes. Expertise spans traditional media (marble, bronze, ceramics) and digital fabrication (3D printing, CAD, digital modeling), with notable projects across China, the UK, USA, Australia, and Canada.
Atkin has received significant recognition including the Henry Moore Scholarship during his MA studies. His fellowships and international commissions reflect his global impact on public art discourse.
