Professor John Anderson is a prominent academic and legal scholar at the University of Newcastle, affiliated with the Newcastle Law School in the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds a PhD (2003) and has served in various senior roles, including Interim Dean and Head of the Newcastle Law School. His research focuses on criminal justice system inequities, sentencing reform, restorative justice, arson law, and elder abuse. He has authored numerous books and articles, including Uniform Evidence Law: Text and Essential Cases and Criminal Law Perspectives: From Principles to Practice.
Teaching awards include the 2010 Australian Learning & Teaching Council’s Teaching Excellence Award.
