معرفی
Johannes Pollanen is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University in the Department of Physics & Astronomy, where he leads the Laboratory for Hybrid Quantum Systems (LHQS). His research focuses on hybrid quantum systems combining trapped electrons, superconducting qubits, and mechanical resonators, utilizing ultra-low temperatures (~10 mK) and nano-fabrication techniques from the Keck Micro-fabrication Facility to study quantum behavior at single-excitation levels.
- Ph.D., Northwestern University (2012)
- B.S., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2003)
His work spans quantum information science, condensed matter physics, and low-temperature physics. He explores quantum Hall nematic states, superfluid helium-3 phases, and acoustoelectric effects in graphene. Recent research highlights include phononic bath engineering of superconducting qubits and control of twisted bilayer graphene quantum states.
Scientific awards include the
- NSF CAREER Award (2022)
Collaborations include Jim Eisenstein at Caltech during his IQIM postdoctoral fellowship and contributions to quantum measurement labs at MSU. His research bridges theoretical exploration with experimental innovation, emphasizing control mechanisms for quantum systems in extreme environments.
