California Institute of Technology (Caltech)معرفی
Gal Shavit is a Sherman Fairchild Postdoctoral Scholar and Research Associate in Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), affiliated with the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy. His research focuses on quantum materials, superconductivity, and topological phases of matter, particularly in twisted graphene systems and fractional quantum Hall effects. He investigates phenomena such as quantum geometric effects, unconventional pairing mechanisms, and entropy-driven phase transitions. Shavit collaborates with the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter (IQIM) and contributes to advancements in quantum computing device design through his work on topological superconductors and correlated electron systems.
His recent work explores topics like superconductivity in spin-orbit coupled bilayer graphene, competing orbital magnetism in twisted trilayer structures, and entropy-enhanced quantum anomalous Hall effects. These studies often involve advanced theoretical frameworks and numerical simulations to uncover emergent properties in low-dimensional and strongly correlated materials.
Shavit’s research spans experimental theory collaborations, with an emphasis on bridging quantum phenomena observed in twisted 2D materials to broader applications in quantum information science. His contributions include seminal papers on Dirac cone migration in twisted graphene and the stabilization of fractional Chern insulators under non-ideal conditions.
