Johannes Jansen is a Professor at the Unit of Periodontology and Biomaterials within the College of Dental Sciences at Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He has held leadership roles, including Head of the College of Dental Sciences since 2005, and has been a visiting professor at Rice University (2002) and Clemson University (1992). His research focuses on biomaterials, oral implantology, and regenerative medicine, particularly studying wound healing and bone reactions to dental implants.
- Studied Dentistry at Radboud University (graduated 1977)
- Established a part-time dental practice in 1977 while conducting volunteer PhD research
His research spans biomaterials development, implantology, and regenerative medicine, including studies on percutaneous and permucosal implants. He has supervised 64 completed PhD students and currently mentors 20 more.
