Johanna Macneil is an Academic Director, Engagement for Social Impact at RMIT University's College of Business and Law, appointed in 2023. She also holds the rank of Professor of People, Organisation, and Work. Her academic leadership spans over 25 years, focusing on industrial relations and fostering cooperation between workers and employers. She previously served as Dean of the School of Management (2020–2022) and held senior roles at the University of Newcastle, including Assistant Dean for Learning and Teaching (2015–2020) and Professor of Employment Relations (2017–2020).
Her research addresses psychosocial hazards, workplace equity, and the role of tribunals in fair work practices. Notable projects include collaborations with Safe Work Australia, the Fair Work Ombudsman, and international comparative studies on industrial tribunals. She has also advised public and private sector organizations on labour relations globally.

Research Interests: Industrial relations, comparative labour law, psychosocial hazards, workplace sexual harassment, unions, and cooperative workplace practices. Her work emphasizes practical applications, such as reducing workplace hazards and improving gender equality through organizational learning.
