Jun.-Prof. Dr. Johann Justus Vasel, LL.M. (NYU) holds the Santander Bank Endowed Junior Professorship for Public Law with a special focus on legal issues of artificial intelligence at the Faculty of Law, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. He is also a board member of the Heine Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (HeiCAD).
- Education: LL.M. in International Legal Studies (NYU), Doctorate in Law (University of Hamburg), Law and European Law studies (Julius-Maximilian University of Würzburg), Law and Economics (University of Bayreuth)
His research focuses on legal challenges in artificial intelligence, public law, international law, and human rights, with an emphasis on legal writing, rhetoric, and negotiation skills. He teaches courses such as seminars on AI-related legal issues and workshops on negotiation management and communication.
- Awards: Max Weber Fellowship (2019–2020)
He has held academic roles at the European University Institute, University of Tübingen, University of St. Gallen, and the University of Hamburg. His advising and teaching activities are highlighted through workshops and seminars aimed at improving students' presentation and negotiation skills.
