Dr. Johann Laux is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow and former Postdoctoral Researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), University of Oxford. His work focuses on the legal, social, and governmental implications of AI, Big Data, and emerging technologies. Key areas include improving human oversight of automated decision-making, governance frameworks for AI, and the ethical impacts of personalisation in digital platforms. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Hamburg, with research on institutional design and collective intelligence in courts. Previous roles include Emile Noël Fellow at NYU School of Law and Visiting Researcher at UC Berkeley School of Law.
