Johan Schrama

Johan Schrama is an Associate Professor in Aquaculture and Fisheries at Wageningen University & Research. His research focuses on fish nutrition, specifically the consequences of fishmeal replacement by plant ingredients, feed intake regulation, and digestive processes. He investigates feed-fish-system interactions in aquaculture, particularly recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).

Current projects involve developing novel methods for evaluating energy of feed ingredients and sustainable aquaculture practices. He supervises multiple PhD candidates studying topics ranging from robotic locomotion in aquaculture to digital twins for fish health management.
