Johan Samsing

Johan Samsing serves as Assistant Professor in Theoretical Astrophysics at the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA), part of the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. He joined NBIA in 2019 as a Louis-Hansen Assistant Professor and Marie Curie Fellow, subsequently securing a Villum Young Investigator Grant in 2020 to establish a dedicated gravitational-wave astrophysics research group.

His academic foundation includes a PhD from the Niels Bohr Institute (DARK) completed in 2014, followed by postdoctoral appointments at Princeton University where he held dual prestigious fellowships.

Dr. Samsing's research centers on unraveling the astrophysical mechanisms behind gravitational-wave sources, with particular emphasis on black hole merger origins. His work bridges theoretical modeling and observational gravitational-wave astronomy, addressing fundamental questions about compact object populations and cosmic evolution.
