Martin Pessah is a Professor of Theoretical Astrophysics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, and Deputy Director of the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA). He leads the Theoretical Astrophysics Group at NBIA and holds a PhD from the University of Arizona.

His research focuses on astrophysical dynamics, fluid dynamics, and magnetohydrodynamics, with applications to planetary systems, accretion disks, and cosmic magnetic fields. He has secured funding from prestigious programs including the European Research Council, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, and the Villum Foundation.
Martin has mentored numerous students and postdoctoral researchers, including Philip Kirkeberg, Marcela Grcic, and David O'Neill. He has held progressive academic roles since joining the University of Copenhagen in 2010, advancing from Knud Højgaard Assistant Professor to full Professor in 2023.
Labs and teams: He co-founded the Theoretical Astrophysics Group at NBIA and collaborates extensively with researchers across the Niels Bohr Institute and international institutions.
