Johan Hallqvist is an Associate Professor and Deputy Director at the Department of Social Work, Södertörn University. He teaches in the Social Work Program and Police Training, and obtained his PhD in Ethnology in 2022 with a dissertation on human-technology relationships.
His research focuses on three primary domains:
- Digitalization impacts on working life
- Sustainable employment for aging populations
- Neurodivergent functionality in workplaces
He leads two major research initiatives: the Forte-funded program 'Strategies for Sustainable Working Life' (2021-2027) examining organizational adaptations for older workers, and the project 'Who Wants to be a Working Retiree?' (2025-2028) studying hybrid retirement models. As coordinator of the SAK network, he facilitates industry-academia collaboration on workforce sustainability.
