Johan H. Enslin

Johan H. Enslin is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University, founding director of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC), and holds the Duke Energy Distinguished Chair in Power Systems at UNC Charlotte. He also serves as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, with 38 years of combined industry and academic leadership across the USA, Europe, and South Africa.

Enslin's research focuses on modernizing power grids for high renewable energy penetration, emphasizing smart grid technologies, energy storage optimization, Virtual Power Plants (VPPs), and high-power electronic converters for HVDC/MVDC systems. His work prioritizes secure, resilient grid integration of solar, wind, and storage solutions with demonstrable business viability.

He founded and directs Clemson's Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC), which drives research and infrastructure development for next-generation power systems and renewable integration.
