Joern Putschke serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wayne State University. His research focuses on Ultrarelativistic Heavy-Ion Physics and the study of Quark Gluon Plasma.
Dr. Putschke earned his PhD in Physics from Max-Planck Institut fuer Physik (TUM) in Munich, Germany in 2004. He completed postdoctoral work at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2005-2007) followed by Yale University (2007-2011).
His teaching portfolio includes University Physics courses for both scientists and engineers as well as Computational Physics. Dr. Putschke maintains an active teaching schedule with courses planned through Fall 2025.
