Joerg Schaub is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy and Director of Education at the University of Essex's School of Philosophical, Historical, and Interdisciplinary Studies. He holds a Dr. phil. from Goethe-University Frankfurt and has held fellowships at Cambridge University and the University of Essex. His research spans political philosophy (Rawlsian justice, reconciliation, political realism), critical theory (Frankfurt School, recognition theory), aesthetics (aesthetic freedom, misrecognition), German philosophy (Hegel, Schiller), and medical ethics. He recently completed a book manuscript on the role of aesthetics in democratic life, proposing a novel aesthetic recognition framework.
