Dr. Joely Proudfit is a Professor in the Department of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM), where she has served since 2008. She is a descendant of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians and a nationally recognized advocate for Native American education and sovereignty. At CSUSM, she developed and directs the American Indian Studies program and founded and leads the California Indian Culture & Sovereignty Center, reflecting her deep commitment to empowering Indigenous communities through higher education.
