Jacob Alvarado Waipuk is a Lecturer at San Diego State University (SDSU), serving as Chair of Tribal Relations and Tribal Liaison within the Division of Diversity and Innovation. He is concurrently pursuing a joint Doctor of Education (JDP) in Educational Leadership through the University of California, San Diego and California State University, San Marcos, focusing on Indigenous youth education and Indigenous teaching methodologies.
Education: B.A. in American Indian Studies from SDSU, with study abroad at the University of British Columbia (First Nations Studies).曾担任圣地亚哥州立大学美洲原住民学生联盟主席。
Research Interests: Schooling environments for Indigenous youth, Kumeyaay language/culture preservation, and tribal sovereignty through education. He developed and oversees the T.A.C.K.L.E. program (Technology and Culture Kumeyaay Literacy Education), a 18-year partnership with UCSD, providing Pre-K to 3rd grade computer literacy and cultural instruction. Co-authoring a book on this program's impacts.
Community Roles: Board member of Indigenous Regeneration (eco-village education and food sovereignty initiatives) and former board member of Inter-Tribal Sports (youth athletic and cultural programs). Teaches Kumeyaay language, songs, and traditions, emphasizing tribal sovereignty through education.
