Joel Van Amberg is a Professor of History at Tusculum University, serving as chair of the Department of History, Museum Studies and Religion. His scholarship examines Reformation-era religious conflicts and the development of legal institutions in early modern Europe.
Education:
- Ph.D. in European History (Late Medieval and Reformation Studies), University of Arizona
Research explores social dynamics of religious reform movements, particularly eucharistic controversies in 16th-century Augsburg. His current book project analyzes Protestant court systems established during the Reformation.
As faculty chair (2022-2024), he oversees academic governance and curriculum development. He advises the History and Museum Studies Student Organization and delivers public lectures on Renaissance-Reformation themes.
