Joel Thorp Katz, MD, MACP is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an infectious diseases consultant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He serves as Director of the internal medicine residency program and Vice Chair for Education at the same institution, holding the Marshall A. Wolf Distinguished Chair in Medical Education. His clinical practice focuses on infections in immunocompromised patients, particularly those with HIV/AIDS, solid organ transplants, and bone marrow transplants.
- Education: MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1988–1991), internship and residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (1991–1994), infectious disease fellowship at Harvard-Longwood Combined Infectious Disease Fellowship (1994–1996).
Dr. Katz’s research and clinical interests revolve around managing infections in immunocompromised individuals, with a strong emphasis on HIV/AIDS and transplant-related conditions.
