Joel Negin is a Professor of Global Health at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Public Health and serves as Academic Lead for the Academic Excellence Program in the Office of the Provost. He previously led the School of Public Health (2015–2023) and held roles in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. Educated at Harvard and Columbia, Negin has extensive experience in sub-Saharan Africa and now focuses on strengthening health systems in low- and middle-income countries. His research spans HIV/AIDS among older adults, antimicrobial resistance, and health policy. He leads grants from NHMRC and DFAT, collaborating with institutions in Uganda, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Fiji.
