Professor Mu Li is a Professor and Director of International Public Health at the University of Sydney's School of Public Health. She holds academic and leadership roles within the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre and the Charles Perkins Centre. Her expertise spans public health nutrition, particularly iodine-related research and public health program evaluation. She leads cross-cultural collaborations, including mHealth studies in infant feeding and maternal-child health in Asia-Pacific regions.
Education: Medical Degree (Shanxi Medical University, 1982), PhD (University of Sydney, 1992), Master of Health Services Management (Charles Sturt University, 1999).
Research focuses on maternal and child nutrition, public health interventions, and global health challenges. Key projects include evaluating iodine deficiency programs, mHealth interventions in maternal care, and nutrition-sensitive research in Tanzania/Zambia. Current projects include a child-wellbeing study in Indonesia and research on older Chinese migrants' social relationships.
Her work emphasizes global health equity, with collaborations in China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam through programs like the DFAT Australian Awards Fellowship. She contributes to policy development and capacity-building initiatives in maternal and child health.
Teaching includes leading the Master of Global Health program and courses on global health project management and nutrition. She supervises HRD and master's students, focusing on global health challenges.
