Joel Armor

Joel Armor is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Miami University, serving as a liaison between the Department of Art and the Department of Arts Management and Arts Entrepreneurship within the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP). He holds an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Cincinnati and a B.S. in Arts Education from Ashland University. His work bridges art practice, education, and entrepreneurship, emphasizing student-centered pedagogy and creative leadership.

Armor’s research interests focus on fostering authentic human connection through creative experiences, sustainable arts practices, and the intersection of art with business. He leads a for-profit arts business offering creative retreats and workshops for organizations like ArtWorks and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Notable accolades include the Faculty Ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion and recognition as an Influential Faculty of DAAP.

Prior to his current role, Armor served as Head Preparator at the Contemporary Arts Center for over a decade, managing exhibitions and collaborating with prominent contemporary artists. His grants include funding from the Cincinnati Nature Center and Fotofocus. Beyond academia, he explores sustainable living through camping, hiking, and tiny house design.
