Tracy Featherstone is a Professor of Art at Miami University, specializing in interdisciplinary art practices spanning sculpture, printmaking, and installation. Her work explores concepts of cultural translation, material transformation, and human-environment interactions. She has held international teaching roles at South Jiatong University (China) and Miami University’s Dolibois European Campus (Luxembourg).
Education: BFA in Drawing from the University of Cincinnati (1990s), MFA in Printmaking from the University of Arizona (1990s). Her research focuses on how ideas evolve across visual media, cultural contexts, and temporal scales. Recent projects include Beyond What You Know (2024), an exploration of recycled paper substrates, and Nest (2023), which examines sustainability and domestic architecture through canvas and ceramics.
Featherstone collaborates with artists like Krista Connerly and Lisa Siders, and her exhibitions have been featured at institutions such as the Wexner Center for the Arts (Columbus, OH) and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art (DE). Her work interrogates themes like the interplay between chaos and control, material ethics, and the blurred boundaries between functional objects and fine art.
Notable exhibitions include Fantastical Landscape (2016), which reimagined Tantric art through mixed media, and Unfunction (2017), a curated exploration of functional art’s commodification. Her practice emphasizes material experimentation, often using recycled materials and found objects to critique contemporary environmental and cultural narratives.
