Joe Zhou

Joe Zhou serves as a Research Professor in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, specializing in advanced microscopy techniques for biomedical research.

Dr. Zhou's research focuses on micro/nano-scale imaging using fluorescence/confocal/electron microscopy and live-cell analysis. His expertise spans human and animal cell biology, histology, neurobiology, and immunolabeling techniques. He conducts specialized work in negative staining for viruses, bacteria, exosomes, and nanoparticles via TEM, along with ultrastructural TEM and topographic SEM analyses of biological tissues and nanoscale materials.

As part of the Nebraska Center for Biotechnology's Microscopy Core Research Facility, he provides critical imaging services supporting virology, bacteriology, and nanotechnology research. His technical capabilities enable high-resolution structural analysis essential for understanding pathogen morphology and nanoscale biological interactions.
