Jodie Goodnough

Jodie Goodnough serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at Salve Regina University, specializing in photography's societal role, media literacy, and gender studies in visual culture.

• MFA in Visual Art, School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University (2013)

Her research investigates how photography shapes historical perception and personal biases through projects like 'Wandering Wombs,' which recontextualizes 14th-century medical manuscripts using textile reinterpretations to challenge traditional narratives of women's health. She employs alternative photographic processes and documentary techniques while integrating critical media literacy into all courses, teaching students to analyze both the creation and societal purpose of imagery.

Prior to academia, Goodnough worked professionally as a graphic designer, visual resources specialist, and portrait photographer. She completed photojournalism training at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and chaired the Northeast Chapter of the Society for Photographic Education, bringing extensive industry experience to her academic role.
