Jodi Peterson is a Lecturer III in the Department of History at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. She has redefined exceptional teaching through adaptive and inclusive methods, focusing on U.S. history core courses such as U.S. History Pre-Columbus to the Civil War Era and U.S. History Civil War to the Present. In 2015, she pioneered online and hybrid teaching modalities at UTSA, emphasizing student engagement via Blackboard discussions, peer-reviewed assignments, and GroupMe chats.
Her dedication to student success led to her selection as a University Distinguished Teaching Professor and recipient of the 2020 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award, recognizing her innovative classroom practices and commitment to accessibility. She has taught over 700 students annually, incorporating open educational resources to reduce costs and promote critical thinking through diverse instructional strategies.
