Christian Peterson, PhD is an Adjunct Professor at Ferris State University in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education, affiliated with the Humanities Department. His academic journey includes degrees from Yale University, Utah State University, and Ohio University.

Research Interests: Dr. Peterson’s work bridges U.S. Foreign Relations and Transnational History, with a focus on Peace and Conflict Studies, Cold War Diplomacy, and Human Rights. He explores how private citizens and non-governmental groups influence international norms, particularly through the Helsinki Accords and Détente debates.
Recent Publications: His articles examine U.S. peace activism, Reagan’s Cold War strategies, and global citizen engagement in Cold War-era diplomacy. Themes include transnational networks, non-governmental organizations, and empirical theory building in peace studies.

Advising and Professional Involvement: Dr. Peterson has organized panels on North Korea’s nuclear program, DACA Dreamers, and gerrymandering. He also co-authored the Routledge History of World Peace since 1750 and is working on a book with Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz on transnational peace efforts.
