Jodi Olmsted

Jodi Olmsted is a Professor and Director of the M.S. in Healthcare Administration program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), where she also serves as Graduate Faculty and Placement Coordinator for Health Sciences Undergraduate Experiential Learning. She is affiliated with the Department of Health Sciences and Wellness within the College of Health, Human Services and Community Education.

Her educational background is extensive, including a Ph.D. in Adult Education from the University of Minnesota (2006), an Ed.S. in Industrial Education, an M.S. in Career Education, a B.S. in Biology, and multiple degrees in Dental Hygiene. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist (R.H.D.) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene (F.A.A.D.H., 2013).

Her research and professional interests center on the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL), leadership development in health professions, academic assessment, and the design and delivery of distance and online education. She is particularly invested in improving community dental health outcomes and has co-developed a statewide curriculum for local anesthesia and nitrous oxide conscious sedation for dental hygienists in Wisconsin.

Jodi Olmsted has been actively involved in academic service, including peer review for the Journal of Dental Education and Journal of Dental Hygiene since 2014 and 2013 respectively. She has also served in leadership roles such as Program Director for the MS HCA and Health Sciences programs, and as adviser for the Curling Association at UWSP and community youth health initiatives with the Wittenberg Ho-Chunk Tribal community.

She has received grants for converting the CTE&T BS program to fully online delivery (2006–2008) and has a strong commitment to student-centered learning, emphasizing deep engagement, collaboration, and application of knowledge in real-world health care contexts. She encourages students to view education as an investment and to focus on learning over grades.

Jodi is actively involved in curriculum development and interprofessional education initiatives at UWSP, contributing to the vision of a world-class health care-focused school that integrates diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, wellness, informatics, and administrative disciplines. She also mentors students through experiential learning and internship placements and supports extracurricular development as a certified Level I Curling Instructor and coach.
