Catherine Archer

Cathy Archer is an Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene program within the Department of Diagnostic, Laboratory, and Therapeutic Sciences at Ferris State University's College of Health Professions. She has been a full-time tenure-track faculty member since 2008, after serving as a temporary faculty member and clinical dental hygienist from 2004-2007.

Her educational background includes:

• MS in Career Tech/Ed, Instructor Option from Ferris State University
• BS in Allied Health Education from Ferris State University
• AAS in Dental Hygiene from Ferris State University

Dr. Archer's professional interests center on dental hygiene education, community oral health, and implicit bias in healthcare. She has presented on "Implicit Bias in Healthcare" and conducted continuing education workshops on local anesthesia, emphasizing practical application in diverse clinical settings and community service.

Her scientific recognition includes:

As an educator, Dr. Archer has mentored dental hygiene students through international mission trips to Guyana and community initiatives including the "Mission of Mercy" dental clinics. She actively participates in fundraising for the Make-A-Wish foundation through endurance cycling events.

She leads the Guyana Dental Mission program with Michigan-based dental professionals and students, providing critical oral healthcare services in underserved regions while offering experiential learning opportunities.
