Jodi Lynn Johnson is a Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, with appointments in Pathology (Research), Medical Social Sciences (Implementation Science), and Dermatology. She is affiliated with multiple institutes including the Center for Human Immunobiology, Institute for Augmented Intelligence in Medicine, Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM), Simpson Querrey Institute for Epigenetics, and the Skin Biology and Diseases Resource-Based Center.
Her research focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying skin diseases and melanoma progression. Key areas include intercellular signaling pathways in melanoma growth/metastasis, genetic drivers of inflammatory skin disorders, and biomarker discovery for early cancer detection. Her work bridges clinical translation (via Implementation Science) and basic biomedical research.
Recent studies have identified novel crosstalk between keratinocytes and melanoma cells promoting tumor progression, as well as mechanisms linking adhesion molecules to skin pathologies. These findings hold promise for diagnostic and therapeutic innovations. Though no awards are explicitly listed, her cross-disciplinary affiliations suggest active engagement in collaborative research initiatives.
Laboratory and team collaborations span epigenetics, immunobiology, and health systems science, reflecting her multi-faceted academic role across departments and institutes.
