Jodey Hinze

Dr. Jodey Hinze serves as Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Houston Christian University (HCU) and holds the rank of Associate Professor of Legal Studies. He oversees interdisciplinary programs including the Honors College, School of Fine Arts, and Morris Family Center for Law and Liberty. His research focuses on corporate criminal liability, legal hermeneutics, and the ethical dimensions of law and business, blending historical and modern contexts to explore moral agency in legal frameworks.

Education: J.D. (cum laude) from University of Houston Law Center, M.A. (summa cum laude) in Theology from Criswell College, and B.A. (cum laude) in Biblical Studies from Criswell College.

Teaching spans constitutional law, criminal justice, business ethics, and legal studies across multiple colleges. He has developed courses like Constitutional Law I/II and Foundations of Criminal Law. Research highlights include corporate religious liberty post-Hobby Lobby and legal implications of Obergefell v. Hodges in Texas.

Awards include the Opal Goolsby Teaching Award (2011-2012) and Outstanding Advisor of the Year (2010-2011). Leadership roles include strategic planning, curriculum review, and board service at Trinity Classical School. Professional memberships include Texas and Houston Bar Associations (Appellate Sections).

Outside academia, he serves as Of Counsel at Webb Strahan, PLLC, handling business and tax law, and provides pro bono legal support to nonprofits focusing on religious liberty and student conduct issues.
