Dr. David Davis is a Professor of History and Director of Graduate Programs at the College of Arts and Humanities, Houston Christian University (HCU). He holds a PhD from the University of Exeter, an MA from Cardiff University, and a BGS from the University of Texas at Tyler. His research focuses on medieval and early-modern British history, emphasizing intellectual, cultural, and religious history alongside the history of science. Dr. Davis teaches courses such as Western Civilization I and II, Medieval World, and Renaissance and Reformation Studies, and actively contributes to the Honors College at HCU.
His notable publications include Experiencing God in Late Medieval and Early Modern England (Oxford UP, 2022) and Seeing Faith, Printing Pictures (Brill, 2013). Recent articles explore topics like Reformation Bibles, royal supremacy, and religious iconography.
Dr. Davis has received the Opal Goolsby Teaching Award (2013, 2022) and was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (2016). His research has been supported by fellowships from institutions like the Huntington Library and the Johannes a Lasco Bibliothek. Beyond academia, he enjoys reading and coffee—though occasionally wishes he were doing both simultaneously.
