Jochen Balbach

Jochen Balbach is a Full Professor of Biophysics and Medical Physics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU). He holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Technical University of Munich and conducted postdoctoral research at Oxford University under Chris Dobson, focusing on protein folding. Previously, he worked at the University of Bayreuth in NMR spectroscopy roles. His research emphasizes protein folding dynamics, structural plasticity of biomolecules (e.g., parathyroid hormone), and biophysical methodologies.
