Joanne Snowdon is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the University of Sunderland, specializing in BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice. She serves as module lead for the Year 3 Dissertation Module and supports Practice Placement modules across all years. As a Registered Adult Nurse with the Nurse Midwifery Council (NMC) and an Independent Nurse Prescriber, her clinical expertise includes Cardiology and Heart Failure Specialist Nursing, with a focus on patient education and palliative care. She actively contributes to the Assessment Innovation and Improvement Champions (AIIC) program, aligning with the University’s Assessment Innovation Principles.
- Teaching Focus: Mandatory training in Violence and Aggression, Moving and Handling, and clinical placements preparation
- Clinical Background: Over a decade of experience in acute and community settings, managing complex heart failure cases
Her research interests center on long-term conditions and the evolving role of advanced nurse practitioners in healthcare delivery. She is based at Helen McArdle House, room 212.
