Joanne Odell

Joanne Odell is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Health Sciences, University of East Anglia, and a member of the Mental Health and Social Care research group. Her work focuses on person-centred care and mental health services.

Her research interests include mental health, social care, person-centred care, nursing, and health services research. She is particularly interested in the development of person-centred cultures and practices within healthcare settings, as well as practice-driven transformation and service evaluation.

Her recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on evaluating and facilitating person-centred care programmes, with an emphasis on leadership, cultural change, and impact assessment in mental health and social care services. The work often employs participatory and qualitative methods.

Dr. Odell is currently leading the NICHE project (2023-2026) funded by the NHS Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care Board, which aims to develop person-centred care and cultures through a residential training programme.
