معرفی
Joanna Krueger is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Klein College of Science, University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She holds an Honors Faculty status until June 2026. Her research focuses on structural biochemistry, particularly using techniques like small-angle X-ray/neutron scattering and chemical cross-linking to study protein interactions. She investigates the molecular basis of diseases linked to cytoskeletal dysfunction, such as cancer, through studies of gelsolin-actin complexes.
- Education: B.A. (ACS) from Kalamazoo College, Ph.D. from Princeton University, Postdoctoral Fellowships at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Her research interests include understanding how protein shape changes regulate cellular functions. Key techniques employed are small-angle scattering, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy. Her 2007 Journal of Biological Chemistry publication demonstrated the structural basis of calcium-regulated gelsolin activation.
- Awards: NSF CAREER Award, Cottrell Science Award, ORAU Junior Faculty Enhancement Award, NC Biotechnology Award.
Her work involves interdisciplinary collaborations and contributes to structural insights in biophysical chemistry. The Krueger Group website details ongoing projects and methodologies.
