Christina Vizcarra

Christina Vizcarra, an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Barnard College, leads research on actin regulation and its implications in cellular processes. Her work combines biochemical techniques, spectroscopy, and high-resolution microscopy to address key biological questions.

• Education: B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics (University of Kansas), Ph.D. in Chemistry (Caltech), NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCLA.

Research Interests:

• Actin cytoskeleton dynamics and its role in inherited deafness
• Development of small molecules to inhibit formin proteins
• Impact of metallothionein-3 on actin under lead exposure
• Computational approaches to protein design
